Microsuction is a method of ear wax removal that uses a medical suction device and a visual aid to see inside the ear. The visual aid used is an endoscope. A thin tube is connected to the suction device and gently inserted into the ear canal. A trained professional will only touch the wax and not the ear canal walls or ear drum.
Microsuction usually does not require any drops before the procedure, but some people may benefit from using olive oil for 1 or 2 days beforehand. The clinician will examine your ear through the visual aid and carefully remove the wax without causing any pain. You should also be shown the condition of your ear after the procedure.
